I like the pepper, red berries and dark cherries here. Lighter this year with a medium-bodied palate and a tangy lift of spices. Fresh, crunchy tannins in the middle are appealing. A firm and vibrating finish of very good length. Evenly packed and well-made. Likely to be a very solid choice from the vintage if you’re looking for balance and brightness.

Decanter

Fragrant and expressive, super lively and forward nose full of floral and red fruit scents. Smooth and creamy, this has a charm about it straight away, ripe fruit for sure with hints of both sweetness and tension giving an interplay between vibrancy and structure. Serious and fun. This has clarity and purity and a well-worked overall expression. Very complete. Elegant and balanced. Packed full of flavour here.

Falstaff

Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Restrained, delicate aromas of ripe plum, dark cherry, delicate hints of wood, candied orange zest. Juicy, sweet fruit, ripe cherry, fine acidity, round tannins, already well developed, an elegant food companion.

It features morello cherries, dark chocolate, and cocoa powder, and is delicate, sapid, and vibrant with finesse. It’s well-knit, with an elegant, silky texture and a lingering finish. Seductive stuff.

When I tasted Château Fleur Cardinale 2024, I was already struck by its remarkable maturity. This bold, full-bodied style, with its rich aromas, might seem overpowering in warmer vintages, but in the sun-scarce 2024 vintage, it shines brilliantly. Look at that dense, tightly knit tannin texture – it feels like an elegant inner framework spun from silk, supporting the wine with quiet strength. The scent of black plums is rich but never cloying, drifting gracefully across the palate, followed by a rounded, generous finish. Each layer flows seamlessly into the next, every detail landing exactly where it should. One glance, and you know: this year’s “Blooming Lotus Selection” has its star.

Vinum

Ruby-red shine, with floral notes over raspberry and elderberry; gripping on the palate, well structured, crisp fruit, silky tannins. The wine shows precision and length, echoing with red-fruit aromas on the finish. A reliable choice with good aging potential.
